The 68A and 68B used the same basic design. The 68C top was a complete redesign. Maybe an owner has one to measure from the A or B types since I have no access to one.

Cabriolet tops date way back into the era of the horse drawn types. The extended bar length is dependent on the height of the main top bow as a general rule.

This link has a measurement. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=274238

The 2731 which also fits a B is 21 -3-4” OC. Now a car just measured
I don’t know why the 1/4” difference as the body brackets are all the same. Could the main bow be different?
All I know is what I measured on a car just now!

From the referred link above—
“The restoration guide says that 2702A and 2702B are for the left side Jul 19 to Feb 30 for the 68B. 2703 is for the right. length center to center is 23 inches. If you have the type that do not fold they are for the sport coupe.”

Don’t know the differences and why

I am not aware of distance differences.

I do know of 3 variations in cabriolet landaus.

There are the 68B type and the 68C type which have the countersunk area on the backside where the numbers are located.

There is a version that does not have the countersunk back area and are a bit rounder. I had a pair and they were the same length as the indented 68B irons.

Kevin-
Agreed one size fits all on A&B. The difference in one type is the hollow ones (no indentions)
They go left or right; same both sides. But I’ve seen lots of broken and repaired hollow ones. Also, the hollow ones tend to get loose pieces of something that rattle around like a BB in a bottle
!

Years ago I ended up with a set of hallow irons. I wondered about their strength. The pair I had were in very good shape overall as I recall. I sold them to help pay for other parts like usual.

I was just bringing up what I have run across over time. I do not know what it all means in facts.

I was wondering about the reported 1/4" difference reported above. I mean a 1/4" means little in the end as there is plenty of room to move the upper bracket. But factory wise the jigs were likely set to within 1/16" or better. I did have a pair where the wear at the center plus the wear at the ends would account for over 1/4", but they were obviously bad. I did fix them and they will be on my car.
