Default Pistol grip e brake

Were all forward mounted pistol grip brake levers chrome plated or were some painted with a non plated grip? In the photo I am posting it shows a pretty rough seam, is that typical of Ford?

As per the RGJS (page 6-8), the handles were butler or unpolished nickel on the lower portion and bright nickel on the grip portion.

That is correct, however I have one in a 29 Canadian sedan which is painted black with a grip which seems to be of some sort of base metal and no chrome. Also the seam on the shaft is not as obvious as the one in my photo. Looking for any comments from any one who may have that type of brake shaft to compare notes. Thanks
