Default 30-31 Model A pickup conversion value

Hello! I'm a Model T guy, but have a family friend with this Model A converted pickup. Neither of us knows what it is worth and we would like to get some input. It has wheels and has been started and run within a few years. Not sure if it's a 30 or 31. Originally it was maybe a coupe? But at some point the body was cut off at the doors and it was turned into a pickup. I also know that the brake rod linkage is missing.

What's a fair price? That's my main question. A specific number is good along with "Wouldn't spend more than X amount" or "Bare minimum it's worth X amount." I know this isn't an exact science.

If I decided to buy it, how hard would it be to locate a body? I really like sport coupes personally (Like the Ramblin Wreck at Georgia Tech).

Thanks!

Seth

I wouldn't give more than $1000 for it, and that would be dependent upon having a clean title. There really isn't much there (from the pix) that has any value. Everything -and I mean everything- would have to be disassembled and checked for usability. Then you'd start spending some real money

$500 with a useable title. Not a dollar more. Wayne

This may not be the honest answer you prefer; however, in my situation while still working, and with restored and partially restored Model A's sold so inexpensively every day today, plus looking at the time & money it would take to restore it, I may one of the very few who would not want it if it were delivered to me for free with a $100.00 bill under the seat.

On the brighter side, at a younger age, thoughts are "entirely" different.

Hopefully, one may find someone who is interested in a similar situation .... appears the gentlemens' wise responses in reply #2 & #3 appear to be in the ballpark of what one sees today sold on Ebay.

Just like some people like eating rare calves liver, some like caviar, some like raw oysters, some like hamburgers ...... it is a wonderful short life full of diversity & surprises ..... do as you wish & enjoy every moment!

The grill shell at least is a 1930. Typically these things were put together out of whatever was available, so you might find mixed parts from all four years of Model A , and sometimes things that dont even belong there, but was made to work.
These things can be fun to play with, but there is not much value to a restorer.
Does anybody know what that device is on the right front of the motor?
Good Luck

I have sold similar for 3-3500. I know everyone on here is low, just cant find that here in NJ for 1000.

a non running chassis alone is 1000. here- bed is 600. title is 500. and then the rest of the parts.

If you are not going to enjoy the "jalopy" as is, dont buy it. go buy yourself a good car and let this one go.

you will be upside down so quick buying this, and a body separate. GL!

I would say fix it up enough to make a driver out of it. You will get all of the lookers at the carshow. The restored trailer queens will get the hard core lookers but the general public will love the unrestored modified antiquey car. Value around here in the condition it's in, maybe 1800.00 to 2000.00. However, get it drivable and it would be worth considerably more. The pickup conversion was so common during the war because of gas rationing. Also it was a useful vehicle on the farmstead.

You don't say where you are located. It will make a difference. Few will travel more than 1 day round trip to buy it. If it is in a major metropolitan area there will be more potential buyers than if it is in eastern Montana.

If it is in Washington State or British Columbia, and you pass on it, let me know. It is a unique vehicle that would be a lot of fun to get it running and to bring to car shows. Like Eagle says, it would attract more attention at a general car show than a fine point restored Model A.

$500 to $1,000 depending on how much of the 'stuff' I think might be of value to me. It is pretty much a 'parts car'.

Seth, contact Dan or Deron Shady, and ask them if they know of something for sale in y'all's area.

The car is in Athens, GA. I'm in Huntsville, AL, but my dad has a house in Athens and I'm over there several times a year. The car belongs to a family friend and he knows about my Model T, just wanted to give me first crack at this Model A.

I am not particularly in the hunt for an A right now, though I'd like to have one at some point. I just needed some kind of ballpark price to work with to let me know if it was worth fooling with. Having a T I'm all too familiar with a car being worth less when it's finished than what it cost to get it finished.
