Weird (to me) intake
What's with the extra "bump" on this intake?

Re: Weird (to me) intake
Thanks. What would the bump be for on a RHD car?

Re: Weird (to me) intake
It's for a pivot,or bellcrank for the spark advance rod.

Re: Weird (to me) intake
I bought my first Model A CHEAP because the PO had connected the rods to the wrong arms on that bell crank. As a result, the steering column lever was Up to advance, down to retard. Even then, because one arm is longer than the other, he couldn't get enough advance so it struggled to hold top gear on the flat. When I took delivery, I stopped just around the corner and connected them the right way and have never looked back (except at Chevs in the rear vision mirror )

Manifold diameter for AF engines?
I have a similar manifold on my AF engine in a French (left hand drive) car.
Is the manifold smaller diameter for the AF engines? What is that a plug on my manifold where the pivot for the spark advance would be bolted on for RHD cars? (Obviously not needed for a LHD car) Were all AF engine manifolds like this? Thanks for any insight, Brad in Maryland |

Re: Manifold diameter for AF engines?
Maybe smaller diameter to match the smaller bores/smaller engine displacement?
Carb venturi/jets may be different too. Joe K

Re: Weird (to me) intake
I wonder if when Ford made spares that the made all intakes like the ones shown here so they could be used on both left and right drive cars.

Re: Weird (to me) intake
Whether they made the same manifold for both left and right hand drive cars back in the day is of little help. This is just one more of those scores of things that vendors do not offer for RHD cars.
