What tire dealer have you had the best luck with? I need new tires soon.

Check your PM message sent... thanks.

Tires,,,,Mark Maron on here stated he runs Universal brand tires for $99 a pop and gets around 15,000 miles out of them. Not a bad looking tire and not a bad deal really.

I suppose Charlie is melting down sandals now and making them in the Central Highlands but they seem to be popular with Model A folks.

I also run Universal tires and like them. As for ammeters, there are no good repros being made at this time. Buy several from a reputable dealer and return the ones that don't work.

I heard that "Charles" is melting down the "Ho Chi Minh racing slicks" in a giant smelter inside the caves under Hon Con Mountain at An Khe.

Same caves that the VC used to disappear into when we went up there to find them after the snipers shot at us!

Re: Another Amp Meter Question
Ammeter issue.
I have some rebuilt original ammeters done by Hans Kalinka and were used to write an article in the Model A News. Look me up or search original ammeter as I have posted some of these for sale in the past. Nothing works quite like a Henry Ford built part in a Ford.
Best,
Dan Bixby

Part came super well packed, fast, and it is a beauty it's even nicer than Dan said it would be.

I am very very happy with it. And Dan is a super nice guy to deal with Fellows like Dan and Mark make it a lot more pleasant to be in the Model A Ford hobby for sure..............

Jack,

FWIW:

Just one (1) humble thought from past Model A experiences.

If you ever get a chance to drive or ride in a Model A ..... on non-interstate, back road type highways with "any" brand new "bias" tires .......... and ......... also compare new "bias" tires to riding in a Model A on the same back roads with new Coker 550-19" "radial" tires ..... "only" then will you have experienced what many Model A owners have posted on Model A Forums about improved smoother rides, much safer breaking at emergency stops, and far better overall Model A handling.

Reading Model A Forum BS about how good cheaper "bias" tires appear to be is one form of learning ....... experiencing actual differences in Model A "radial" tire performance and actually experiencing "gripping" the highway with more tire rubber on "any" type of wet or dry highway, will definitely alter Model A owners' thought process ....... and yes........ also, alter their bank accounts ...... but ....... what is the false often recommended monetary limit one should decide to spend on the Life Safety of Model A owners' passenger(s)?

My vote goes to Coker 550R19 radials. I, too was wincing at the cost and in the process spent almost as much screwing around with various bias ply tires. I even have a set of 16" wires in case I decided to go that way.

Since I got my 550R19s, 3 or 4 others in our club have gone to them and have nothing but praise for them.

One word of caution to anyone thinking about going to radial ply tires!!

Be sure to get good radial ply tubes to go with them. The standard type tubed are not made to absorb the heat or flex of a radial ply tire!!!
