Default Painting '31 roadster

This may be an unanswerable question but I'm getting ready to paint my roadster and tried to do a search on how much paint to buy for the body and hood of a roadster but couldn't find any info.
I know it will depend on how many coats needed to cover but I don't know if I should buy a couple of quarts or a gallon or what. If anyone has any helpful info on what it took them on their car I'd appreciate hearing from you.
I'm using an hvlp gun and will clear coat after the color goes on. don't want to buy too little and have more mixed and risk having batches not match but, with the cost of paint, I really don't want to over buy.
Any help would be appreciated !

If you are using BC/CC, the base only needs to be coated enough to get coverage. Depending on the quality of your gun, a quart of body color will do it and 2 pints for the moulding. Remember, one coat of coverage is all that is needed.

I'd stay away from bc/cc. Single stage is much easier to repair in the future. Buy a gallon of Restoration Shop single stage for $150 from AutoColorLibrary.

I've been waiting for somebody to point that out.If that was said on some European car forums there would be 40 people jumping down his throat like he murdered somebody. Some of those guys treat a mis-spelled word or mis-placed comma like the crime of the century. Here in N.H. our inspection law stated that tires had to have 2/32 of of tread to pass. Not 1/16,but 2/32.I know it sounds kind of dumb, but when you look at the tread depth guages you will see they are marked in 32ths,with no 16ths,8ths,etc.
