I'll try to reach out to him today. I PM'd him last week with no response. We've been in touch with each other about once a month, but I haven't heard from him

This the one thing I don't like about these forums; leaning bad things about good people.

Gary has done me a few favors, which I am grateful for, and I hope everything turns out good for him.

I'm afraid it comes with the territory. We like the old stuff, really old stuff. We like each other. We have found 'birds of a feather' on this amazing platform. But we are mostly older guys. I guess we could have come up with a more modern hobby and joined some 'gamer site' and the folks we interact with are 30 and healthy even though they live on potato chips. I thought about joining one of those groups last week, but then I remembered I was gonna be busy that day eating ground glass instead. With my collection of beater trucks, I would be 'Goslow Gary' for sure. I just hope my faster brother is OK and just busy with a cool project. And Godspeed Gary!

I have a car that appeals to younger, racier types, and a truck that is mostly owned by first-car youngsters. The forums for them are a nightmare of cussing, really, really stupid questions, and really, really bad advice. I gave up on them a long time ago.

Hoping Gary is OK!

It is truly disturbing that it's getting to the point where you hesitate to answer the phone or turn on the TV or the internet as "bad and sad news" seems to so prominent these days. I guess you experience this more as you get older.

Oh Boy . . . that totally sucks to hear about Gary. Hell, just bought some of his lined valve guides a couple months ago. He had such enthusiasm for our beloved Flatheads and did his best to pass on the knowledge/experience he'd gained over the decades.

We didn't always agree on how best to do things, but that was perfectly fine - I respected his opinion and he respected mine (it is what civil folks do!). My heart goes out to his family - Godspeed Gary, you will be missed!

Gary was a real nice and helpful person,I got a set of valves and stuff from him just last week.
God speed Gary and know that the valve guides and seals you gave me did wonders for the 33, it did 5 days in a row at 550 kms per day in 35-40C and used no oil on our trip to Ayers rock.
THANK you for your help and knowledge.
You will be missed.

Gary was one of the guys who had the knowledge to go to the next level with the flathead. I enjoyed reading his posts and learned a few things doing so. The truly sad part is for the new guys coming on the Barn looking for info about the flathead and now not being able to learn from him. He will missed a lot.
