My middle daughter drives a 2010 PT.

I drive a 2009 PT I bought new for $11,800 including a Limited Lifetime Drivetrain Warranty as my construction vehicle (an 8' ladder fits inside with the hatch closed).

All (3) have been 100% dependable and trouble free.

PT loser ? NOT in my opinion....and like it or not, they bear a strong resemblance to my 37 Tudor Slantback, which is why I bought these in the first place. (They even have a hood prop in the same place as my 37 and if you try to close the hood with the prop in place, you will kink the hood just like our old Fords).
Bought 13 years ago in 2000?
How did you manage to buy a new 2009 for $11,800 when the cheapest dealer invoice (the price the dealer paid for it) was over $16,000?

You seem so consumed with your dislike for the PT's. Oh well, to each his own.

However, since you asked, here's the math for the 13 years...I counted the year 2000, then 2001,2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010, 2011,2012. Flawed math maybe, but there are 13 individual calender years, and we put a deposit on the 2001 PT early during the 2000 calender year before any were available, none were built for sale yet. (I had seen a prototype PT in person at a 1999 Stanford football game, and decided to buy one, without seeing the production version or ever driving one)

Regarding my 2009 PT, I pulled out the original invoice and you are right, my memory failed me, I did not pay $11,800.00, I actually paid $11,995.00 NIC tax + license. This is for the base model 5 speed with A/C, PS, PDB, AM/FM CD player, power door locks, Limited Lifetime Power Train Warranty, a full tank of gas, $0.00 down and 3 years financing at 0% interest. Just paid the last payment this month.

Sorry to say, but if you believe the dealers actually pay the amount listed on the dealer invoice, then you have a lot to learn about buying any new car and how to haggle for the best deal available.

I won't even tell you the $$ details of the great deal I got on my daughter's loaded 2010 PT, because if you think the deal on my 09 was impossible, the 2010 deal would blow your mind.

I was just having a little fun; I certainly didn't want to start a flame war. I've actually had some nice conversations with PT owners at the gas pumps where we've all agreed there's just something about that 30's type of styling.

Regarding 3738's observation "All (3) have been 100% dependable and trouble free", I assure you I can't say *that* about my Zephyr . Modern cars are so much better mechanically it almost defies comparison. I had a 1994 Mustang GT convertible that I put 150K on; never burned a drop of oil, and the only non-routine item I had to replace was a plastic idler pulley. My 2004 F-150 is approaching that, and no major repairs yet. Don't get me wrong, I love my old cars to death, but sometimes it's nice to have a car you can get in and go...

Your assumption that I have a dislike for PT's is just as flawed as your math. I ordered my PT in May of 2000 and picked it up in August of 2000.(less than 12 years ago)
I don't think the deal was impossible, just a simple question which you answered. Sorry that it rubbed you the wrong way.

I just reread the thread, I confused the comments posted by hombres ruin as being from you. I made a mistake for which I apologize. Hopefully....No harm, no foul....
