Default 59 edsel shocks

Howdy
So I installed some air shocks on the rear of my 1959 edsel. They worked one day.
Monroe shocks should have been ok. Held air till I drove car about 100 miles.
Now they will not take any air at all. I checked air flow to lines at shock connection, got it ok there. No pinched lines.
I am thinking that the angle of the shock from bottom of mount to top is at such of an angle that the seals blew. Its like 40 degrees. Seems like the straighter they mount the better off I would be.
So my question is does anybody have an idea what might be a better way to raise the rear end a little? I do not want to just change shackle mount as I think it weakens spring.
If I could raise it I coud just put on gas shocks I guess.

Did you just recently buy them? If yes, return them to the store for another set.
If they've been hanging around under a workbench for a bunch of years, yes they may have gone bad.

Really, take them back. Either they are defective or something went wrong during installation.

The only other way to raise the rear trim is with new springs or booster springs.

Who made the air shocks?

Monroe shocks. Checked I have air coming out tube at shock. Gonna remove them, put the air chuck on a short tube and see if they air up. I agree with kultulz. Probably gotta change springs. May try the gabriels before i give up on air shocks. Ebay seller no response on refund. Were not that expensive anyway and should come off easier than the ones they replaced. Thanks for ideas

Question Re: 59 edsel shocks

...hmmph ...

What model EDSEL do you have? Are the shocks/packaging decorated MONROE? I see only front shocks in the MONROE CATALOG.

If they are selling junk I would get with EvilBay customer service.

Where I work we just re-arch the springs to give whatever ride height is needed. Keeps it looking original for the judged shows some owners participate in.

Might be a cheaper way doing the spring re-arch than buying another set of air shocks.

Truth be told I cross referenced and came up with a number for mustang car. I just checked shock and they are not marked Monroe. Boxes were but I am thinking chino. Dammit. These also fit I believe the ford galaxie. The gabriel shocks i have coming are for the 1959 edsel,4door ranger 6cylinder. I typically do not like 4 door but this car is nice.
If no good I will be re arching springs.

The days of quality are over. When buying off of EvilBay or AMAZON, YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH. Be aware of counterfeit MOTORCRAFT also.
