Coil adapter (home made)
Ya know i have had this adapter and used it almost daily for a few years .
Theres nothing wrong with some of the new adapters BUT the condensors are always junk and doesnt matter where you buy the adapter We throw away a few hundred condensors that are new every year ,,have a can full that are just junk. Seems as some off shore maker cant get a good one together . This is a two bolt coil cutoff with a band saw etc and coil wire ( solid) installed with some black rtv and we use a vertex mag condensor , this could be the most reliable piece of test equip in my shop !!!! Enjoy ..... |

Re: Coil adapter (home made)
My dad showed me how to make that same conversion when I were a young teenager. Only difference he used to solder in the new coil wire@ then melt “pitch” on top of it to insulate & hold it together. They looked nice when he was finished.

Re: Coil adapter (home made)
I made an almost twin . I used a hot melt glue gun on top , for some reason the epoxy I used didn't stick. Been using it for 10-12 yrs , though not daily .

Re: Coil adapter (home made)
I made one for the '41 Merc in my race car in 1961. I used a terminal chopped out of a conventional cap, some bondo and fiberglass. Sanded down and painted gloss black, it looked almost professional.
