Does this happen after the engine is warm or only after starting it up?

Mine do the same. I start my A's once a week for 20 min each. and drive as much as I can. Nothing to worry about! Also in a heated garage!

Thanks to all for your input. It happens only at start-up once in a while. Fluids stay in say zones .

Hi Jerry,

this is due to the fact that the combustion gases condense in the cold exhaust during a cold start. Water forms with soot. That squirts out of the tailpipe. This is normal with every cold start.

When the exhaust (and engine) is hot, the exhaust gases come out of the exhaust as steam.
