Re: Huge Swap Meet in Reno
Well i attended last year & sure wasn,t 700, in fact it was piss poor not like it was few years ago, Think the charges for sites have killed it. Very disapointing , NOw the one held in Sacramento last year was a boomer, very helpful organisers, Recommended one. Anyone have a report on this years one held last week end, Derek from a still wet not sunny Nelson. ??

Sounds as if you may not have attended this meet, at least not in the last few years? As Quickchange says, HAN vendor numbers have been falling since the original Reno meet moved to Sacramento. Most of the remaining vendors are focused on the street rod market, with an annoyingly high percentage of sunglasses/T-shirts/etc. The rodders don't have room to bring parts with them nor time to work a space, and they're not buying old parts so other vendors don't bring them. This trend started even before the Reno meet moved. We set up at HAN to promote our business (see sig) from 1993 through about 2000, by which time it wasn't worth the trouble. I've been attending the Reno meet off and on since the early '60s, when it was sponsored by Bill Harrah and held at Wooster High School. Back then it was a REAL meet, the best on the west coast. Harrah sponsored it to get people from all over the country to bring parts to him for his collection, and his buyers were first and fast. I have not attended the Sacramento meet, but I hear it's pretty good. Joe

Re: Huge Swap Meet in Reno
here's a slide show of the Sacramento / Reno Swap Meet held last Sunday Aug.5th , 2012
http://www.hotrodhotline.com/sacrame...ts-swap-meet-0 I think it was pretty good too .... we are set for April 21st and also Aug 4th in 2013 I am meeting with Mitch Silver tommorrow in Carson City to see if we want to bring his auction to Sacramento and hold it inside the building next year ... We are getting a ton of requests to go to 2 days ... but I am sticking to a one day swap meet ... (the Saturday night set up .. is wholesale night for all the vendors .. we leave the lights on and the vendors buy and sell all night long and then we let the public in at 6am on Sunday ... (I do understand the "Hot August Nights Brain Trust" has added a demolition derby to their swap meet ..in hopes to draw more people to the mostly vacant Reno Livestock Events Center .. )

Re: Huge Swap Meet in Reno
I used to go to the Harrah's meets in Sparks. This will be my first try of the Hot August Nights meet. At least there will bots of cars to lust over.
