It is designed to be tightened or loosened by fingers OR by a screw driver slot cut across the top end od the nut. It is brass. Which if either is correct? Anybody have a couple of the tube type they would get rid of? I would post a picture but have forgotten how to do that. Lawson Cox 770-784-0507
Heres what i found at my place this morning. The brass slotted nuts are 8/32 and they fit all the 32-41 coils i have laying around here ,,,,But they also fit the 42-48 Crab contact piece as well, They do not fit any of the 42-48 coils as they are 10/32 ???
This dont make it correct , but its the way it is here this morning????

Of the numerous '32-'37s that I've had over years, most of them pretty original, the slotted coil nuts have all been brass, but most with nickel plating, some cadmium plated, and a few without plating. I agree with Michael that the #10s tend to be characteristic of post-production service coils.
