Default Old Photo - We Hope Your Friday Commute is Smoother Than This

We Hope Your Friday Commute is Smoother Than This: It seems that traffic jams are not a development, which was caused by the advent of the National System of Interstate Highways. Traffic in and around cities and highly populated areas had been congested even before use of the automobile became common. On The Old Motor today you can learn a bit more all about the history of traffic.

I recall those "wonderful" days. Especialy the Sayreville light on rt 9. next to the old Dutch boy Paint plant. (Now a superfund site) You gagged for a half a mile at stop and go speed. And if the car next to you had bad rings (so many did) it was worse. Hot day (No A.C.) + Dutch boy Paint + breather fumes & smoky exhaust + Sayreville light =Hell

The only difference between then and today is that we have people on bikes rocketing between lanes at 60 mph (even when traffic is moving at 50 mph) and someone will inevitably try and cut in front of everyone one else because they are more important. Which in turn slows everyone else down even more. Sorry rant over...

Terry, you are correct, it appears to be either 1930 or 31 Sport Coupe or Cabriolet to me.

Third car on right: ??

Forth car on right: ??, but he is waving to the smart guy in the '29
Model-A Sport Coupe {look at the hub caps}
driving away!
Fifth car in middle: Buick
The rest: ??

A fair amount of Moto-Meters on dog bone caps and driver side Spotlights.

That's not the only difference! I'd trade my Honda Accord for any one of those cars in a New York minute! And I'd be happy to sit in traffic if I owned one to park in my garage when I got home!

And look at all those motometers!

It is either 1928 or 1930 Chicago.

(I can't find my good 1928 original paint tag but it is white lettering).

The car in question is actually a sport coupe. Do you know how I can tell?
