Universal Damper made in England
What is this? From what I found it has a thick rubbery substance inside that provides the dampening. No fitting to add oil. I think they were made just after WW II. Seems to work OK. There is a screw in the front to adjust the dampening which I think compresses the material inside.

Looks sort of like the Rotoflo shocks the Bratton's sells.

Re: Universal Damper made in England
These shocks are now frozen solid. I will try adjusting them but I think it is a lost cause. There is no fluid inside, just some kind of rubbery material. I will try some oil too. But I think they are destine for the shelf or trash can.
The link that Ruth provided no longer works, but Brattons does not sell anything similar. Update: Ruth was right, they are Rotoflow, see https://www.oneillvintageford.co.uk/...-18015-rt.html Someone on a hotrod forum said that the viscus material inside hardens up over time. But that setting them in boiling water will restore the material. I will try that but if they come back to life I will be searching for a new owner. There is someone in England that rebuilds them at a hefty price.
