Default different ? headers going on a '35?

Engine is out while waiting for trans to get here. I'm putting engine and trans in together. Sounds like I should put headers on now while engine is on the stand?

Tony, not sure if one way would be easier than the other on the install, but for sure, don't wrench on the engine while on a bell housing engine stand. The bell is the weakest part of the block. A pre-8BA ftathead needs to be supported from the side, not the rear. OK of course, if you also have support at the front...

Put the headers on after the engine is in. A very close fit around the steering box. Ed

Like Ed said, the passenger side will go on easy, but the drivers side can be a bit tricky. Are you using cast-iron or steel headers? Obviously, cast-iron is a lot tougher to wrestle into position by the steering box.

Most definately, put the headers on AFTER you install the engine. It is not that hard and it will save you a ton of problems.

Thx guys, I will be putting the headers on after install per advice.. The headers are steel from Red's also. As usual great to draw on this great pool of knowledge.

Allen, thx for the heads up on the cast in bell housing. Fortunately this is an 8BA engine with the bell housing bolted on. As indicated though the consensus was to put headers on after which Ill do.
Thx
