Default Gas tank gasoline shut-off valve removal tool

Has anyone ever designed a good tool for removing the gas tank gasoline shut-off valve without any damage to the valve itself?

That sure would save a lot of headaches if one were out there.

I don't recall the specific size, but one suggestion years ago was to thread a nut on the outlet side of the valve headed to the sediment bulb, and then use a proper size wrench or socket to turn the fuel shutoff out of the tank.
This would keep you from marring the brass fuel valve body.

I just happened to see that on page 98 of Tiny Tips. It says a 5/8 x 14 thread nut (NF).

IIRC 5/8 x 14 is not NF, it's an odd size. 5/8 NF is 18 TPI.

Timely thread ... I removed / 'restored' / installed my fuel valve last weekend!
Wrapped a few turns of duct-tape around threads (not the ones that go into tank ... thread sealant on those!) and slipped a 5/8" deep socket over them to gain a hand hold and mechanical advantage .... worked great.
