Winter project ready for color....sorry, not a Ford
Since I gave up on the 39 PU without a title, had to find somethin' to do.
Had a garage "kit" laying around. Finally put it together.....been cold work, but ready for siding! Learned NOT to build my own garage, that there is too much county interference, and the $30,000 local builders wanted to assy my kit may have been not so bad. Sadly, my old '38 tonner still seems lonesome in this weekend's 20" of snow! Hope all are well, but to you guys in the South: just keep quiet....... Gordon

Gordon, that second picture should be on a post card. I love it.
Now what about this 39 pick-up, is that title thing a Colorado only sticking point, why could you not register it in another state through a relative. Do you not have a Vin stamped on that frame and transmission casting? Please elaborate because you had some good progress as posted here on Ford Barn and not going on with your restoration sucks. I have found that no matter how large you build your shop it will never be enough.
I agree with 39 on the postcard shot. It's great.

The garage looks nice, but agree that it is not big enough. I am dreaming for a 6 car.......

Actually Gordon it does have some Ford features, that is particle board. Henry did recycle all his wood and with his relative King created those "Kingsford" briquettes. Scott

Scott,
Ground up aspens - they are dying here anyway. Rocky Mountain Park 10 miles away lost 80% of pines in last 5 years to a beetle. Dad's stripping the farm in Ohio of ash - emerald ash borer. Can't be climate change Gordon

Sweet. A 6 car garage and a 2 car garage for your daily drivers. That is what I want, too!

Re: Winter project ready for color....sorry, not a Ford
Was having problems with getting a title for my roadster also. Went thru a title help person, that got a court order demanding the state issue me a title. Was easy to do, a bit pricey, but better than letting the car sit, after it was ready to go.
Nice shop by the way. Lee |

Re: Winter project ready for color....sorry, not a Ford
The key to any certificate of ownership is proof. If the local DMV has no record of the VIN numbers on the frame or engine (different makes use different places to stamp the damn things), then the possibility of theft can generally be ruled out. This is the big hurdle in many of the "picky" states like Colorado and more than a few others. The state has to prove it is stolen, not the person in possession of the vehicle but you may need a ruling from the state Attorney General to that effect or a district or county/parish Judge as a representative of the state can also make that ruling. After that it is usually a bond matter in case a previous owner ever does show up.
States are now more able than ever of checking national data bases for VIN confirmation. That's actually a good thing unless some one has already used the same number in some other state. This stuff happens. Number stamps are available so anything is possible but that doesn't make it any easier. I wonder how many 1932 Fords have the same number? Kansas, where I'm originally from, is a lot more lax than Colorado since there are so many old farm vehicles around. It still has to be checked out by a designated Highway Patrolman though. They just have you get a stamped metal plate with the new assigned VIN and affix it to the body (usually the firewall or door post on drivers side) |

Re: Winter project ready for color....sorry, not a Ford
Thanks for the thoughts all ya.
I've owned two of my frames for 20 yrs; one for 45 yrs. No one has come looking for 'em yet. Quite a bit of paper on two of em (so not likely stolen ), but nothing Co. will accept. Just chicken to finish one completely and loose it upon inspection. Still get to look at the pieces though! Gordon

Do you have a bill of sale? Possibly not after 45 years. GA will search the stolen car database and with bill of sale can issue a registration but not title.

Re: Winter project ready for color....sorry, not a Ford
Yea, have a bill of sale, several titles (none signed to me), registrations from 1957, etc, etc.
Not good enuf. Sorry all of you; you offered a lot of good advice on title and I didn't mean to resurrect that thread, but all ideas past and present are appreciated! IF i decide I want to do more on this POS, I may take it back to Ohio where I first got it - and the Ford bug. Gordon
