Rad stuffing
Has anyone ever heard of stuffing the top of a rad with hemp rope? I drained the rad today to put antifreeze in. When I looked in through the filler neck I saw something floating. I reached in with needlenose pliers and pulled out some rope. There was lots of it in there. Thanks in advance for any help
Thanks Ray

Re: Rad stuffing
Curious, 'bout the only reason to think of is the previous owner got fed up with a rattling busted loose soldered baffle, and poked the rope down to tamp out the noise!

Re: Rad stuffing
After cleaning out the rad and refilling it there is no sign of any issues with it. I wasn't sure if this was an old trick to raise the water temp by slowing down flow through the rad.
