Default installing door glass

I'm about to install the wind up glass in the doors of my 48. Any tips on the best way to get the glass in?

I could try different ways by "trial and error" but why risk scratching the pane when you can ask the experts and do it right first time. I couldn't do that 25 years when I restored my last car. The problem is with old age comes "Craft disease" ( can't remember a F...n thing") so I can't remember how it I did the job last time.

Any help appreciated.

thanks

GB

You do, of course, have the inside window frames and inside door panels removed? Then, for the front windows, loosen the channel between the window and the vent window and slide it forward enough to get the main roll up window in. Attach it to the raising mechanism then slide the channel back in place and secure. That's how I do it. Others may have other ideas.

So glass in from the top? The rest of it I have as you suggest.

The annoying thing on front door is that you have to have the inner garnish (with the vent window) removed to install the door glass. Then you have to install the door trim panel before the garnish/vent window. So if your door glass front edge isn't aligned vertically with the vent window, you have to remove the door panel and garnish again to adjust it. I know they didn't fuss with it that much on the assembly line, maybe I did something in the wrong order

To get the window channel lined up right with the vent window you can quickly stick the inside window frame and vent window in and adjust it without the door panel on then, when it's right, take the frame back off, put the panel on, then replace the window frame and vent window.
