Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
What are the stainless strips called where the waterfall goes on the dash?
Were they an add on or did some cars come with that? |

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
If you are referring to the stainless in the center of the 1936 dash where the radio or ashtray would go, it is called the waterfall.
What year model are you asking about. |

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
There were some that came with two strips and grommet around the windshield crank out instead of the full width "waterfall".

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
Those trim strips and the stainless grommet around the windshield crank came on the 36 standard. Hard items to find.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
I stand corrected on my previous post. Page 37 of the V-8 Club's 35-36 book states the following" In June 1936, there is evidence that some deluxe dashes came with two narrow stainless strips on either side of the center ash receptacle hole. There was also a chrome escutcheon ring around the window crank hole". Note the word "some", so apparently not all deluxes had this trim.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
I have 3 sets of those strips but only 1 window crank surround. The surround is what is really hard to find, the 1 I do have is NOS

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
My 36 is a very late, Aug 36 deluxe car, it originally had the water fall trim in the center with wood-graining..

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
I have a dash with just the crank surround on it. I don't remember if it has any strips...I'll have to look. If anyone is looking for a surround, send me a PM and maybe we can work something out.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
If your dash had the strips you would've seen slots in the dash to mount the strips.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
The crank surround/grommet/escutcheon was used on 1935 and 1936 standard dashes painted either Maroon or Benton Grey (48-701590-A and 68-701590-B resp.) In June 1936 the grommet was issued in a chrome plated format (68-701590-C) to be used with the stainless dash strips (68-701570) mentioned above.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
Since I don't see any slots, my dash must never have had any of the strips.

Re: Stainless strips where waterfall goes on dash
Ok thanks. A friend has a set he wants to sell and I never saw them before. I know what a waterfall is but not those strips. Thank again.
