Default Time to buy the Service Bulletins

For those wondering about a Christmas gift, how about a copy of the full sized edition of the Service Bulletins. Should still have time to have it arrive before Christmas.

BTW, I was just paging through mine and noticed the drawing on page 228 of the cam gear timing marks. I thought it was strange that it was drawn as though the camshaft was located on the driver's side of the block.

Are these still being reprinted? I heard a rumor that they were not being printed anymore.

I have a few originals but by no means a complete set.

I hope they are still being printed. I'm sure the back cover of my MARC magazine had an ad for them. Now I'd better check again to see if the ad was in the magazine that came the other day.

I didn't see them listed in the Sep-Oct copy of Model A News which had me wondering. Maybe I didn't look in the right place, but they aren't listed with the rest of the club literature offerings.

I would be interested in knowing where to get them also, I've got some for 29 that may be originals but would like a whole set. The ones I got have been very helpful.

Well, that's a bummer. I just checked my magazine and don't see them listed either.

I wonder if any of the parts houses still has them in the blue 3 ring binder? I see Bratton's has the small yellow book for $34.65 and has paperback full size for $16.50. I wonder if it's the same quality paper as the older version in the blue 3 ring binder, and has the pages missing from the small yellow book?

The MARC office reportedly sold their last copy of the blue three ring binder full size reproduction several years ago. I have not seen the paperback full size copy that vendors currently carry so I am not able to offer comments about how they compare.

The paperback version will suffice for the information, but it's almost newspaper type paper.

That's too bad, and I had that feeling by the price.
I just checked Ebay and they don't even have any of the good copies in the blue binder.

We were probably looking at the same time. I went to Ebay as soon as I made my post.

Are they still under some kind of copyright?
Could someone scan and post a pdf of them?

Don't ask me why it has a V8 engine Illustration on the cover!

Yes, the pages are a little light, but the size, clarity, and print quality are fine. It is much easier to handle than the other reprints. I would recommend it. Only $22

That appears to be the same thing Bratton's has on page 152 for $16.50 and that's why I was wondering about the paper quality.

I think the full-size version is the most important book to have in your Model A library. I've had mine for about 40 years and have read it through I don't know how many times, yet I always find something I didn't know (or failed to remember). I would say if you could only buy one book for your A, this would be the one to have.

Folks should be thrilled ANY full sized, complete version is available. It's ten times better than the little hardcover version at half the price!

Tom W. I'm going to ask my wife to get me a set of the bulletins for Christmas. Which one would you get from Brattons. They have the regular size and the paperback size. Seems like the paper dimentions are backwards in their book, but not sure. Thanks, Tom F....

I'd get the full size as pictured in replies 13 and 14. I never cared for the little yellow book, and now I see it's really gone up in price.

The Service Bulletins you are discussing were reprinted by MARC in 1997. By the spring of 2008 they had not been selling, therefore MARC discounted them and advertised them in the Model "A" News, as such. I believe the last copy sold by the end of 2008. $150 on e-bay, to bad there was not the interest in them then as it seems there is now.

Something else to consider, is the Service Letters. The Service Letters were technical letters to the dealers from their local assembly plant. These letters advised the dealer of any and all changes in the assembling of the Model A and AA. They were also regarded as an addition to the Service Bulletins. Some of the information that was in the Service Letters did not appear in the Service Bulletins. The Service Letters contain much more information. MARC has also reprinted these Service Letters from 3 of the assembly plants, they are available from the MARC office and some of the dealers also carry them. Like the Service Bulletins, the Service Letters will not last forever, currently they are only $15 plus shipping, but when MARC runs out, they to could be sold on e-bay for $100 +. They also have a lot of good informaton, think about them for your Christmas List.

I have not heard of any plans to reprint the Cleveland Service Letters, but if there were it probably would not happen until most of the stock on hand were sold.
