Default 1931 S/W Fordor Sedan Front Seat Question

How does the backrest spring mount on the front bench seat in a 1931 S/W Fordor Sedan?

Thanks for any assistance.

As mentioned the are very small tabs on the spring itself. These tack into the wood seat frame. A great trick too is to take a 1" wide scrap upholstery fabric and wrap around the spring edge wire and simply nail it to the seat frame.

For those of us who have a late 31, there is no wood strip in the metal frame. That is the reason we are asking how to attached the spring to the metal seat.

Thanks,

Perhaps this will help....my 1934 Fordor has basically the same seat as the 31 S/W Fordor...see my attached pics as to how the original backrest is attached using only scrap pieces of original long grain top material wrapped around spring edge and then sandwiched between seat frame and top tack rail.

That's how our springs were attached to the seat bottom wood frame, with top material scraps, and now I think we had the same for the back rest plus common metal holed straping clips we made running from the 3 tabs and then tacked to the top edge wood. There were no holes or fasteners in the metal seat back other than those for air circ.and the robe rail.
