Default How to Remove Rear Spring U Bolts from 29 Town Sedan

How do you remove the rear spring u bolts from a 1929 Town Sedan? The threads on the u bolts are bad. Tbe floor plan above the rear cross member is in the way.

Many of the sedans are tight . You will probably have to cut a section of the jump from inside to gain access. If done neatly you can put it back by methods of your choice. On wood bodies subrailed cars I would not loosen the body and lift up. You will be causing issues and stress you don’t want to deal with. If the threads can be repaired from below that’s probably the easiest method.

I've never looked under a 29 Town Sedan . But how about tall jack stands and with a spreader remove shackles and take the wheels off to lower rear end to give clearance ? After thinking about this I guess that wont help . If I remember right after the clip bars are removed you have a little wiggle room .

In my Briggs Town Sedan the floor pan is tacked down with short nails. You can pull the rear seat out and pull the small nails out. Use some good rest penetrate to help with removing the nuts.
