Default tire pressure

What pressure should there be in bias ply 19" tires?

I believe that all the model A tires had a recommended pressure of 35 psi but it will vary with loading conditions as well.

I use about 40. That way it takes a loooong time to leak down. That and the tubes don't shift at all. That is my story and I am sticking to it.

What's your location elevation? At 5000 ft. or so, you would read about 2psi higher than at sea level. I use a home made oxygen gauge that is much more accurate than most, so the polyester or nylon bias would read 35psi at sea level. Tires gain about 3 to 5 psi when hot so over inflation is not usually a good thing.

I think it depends somewhat on the model. The coupes and pickups are light and 34# seems about right. In my ‘28 Leatherback I experimented with 35 all around and found the car oversteered on mild to sharp corners. That is, the back end felt like it wanted to break loose. So I dropped the fronts to 34 and raised the back to 38 and the car was much more comfortable in turns. Your experience may vary, of course, but the heavier sedans seem to do better with more pressure in the rear tires.

I run 42 at least. Fordor so its heavier than most. Tires wear more evenly with the higher pressure, and better ride.

On my Victoria, I run 35 psig in the front tires to ease the steering effort, and I run 28 psig in the rear tires for a softer ride.

On my Coupe, I run 1932 6.00 x 18 tires with 40 psig in the front and 28 psig in the rear tires.

I've been running at 40psi on my bfgoodrich tire. This psi seems nice and comfortable.
