Default Castle nuts vs lock washers

I just found that my front backing plates have nuts and lock washers and not castle nuts and pins.
Do I need to change them?

I would go back to the original setup. The correct bolts and nuts can be obtained from several supply houses like Snyder or Bert's to name a few.

Just went to Tam's Model A parts and he sold me just the nuts without the bolts.
Great guy!

Are your bolts made for Castle Nuts, ... If not, your still at square one.

yea best to keep them castle nuts on there - no way for them to loosten and if they do your backng plate (aka brake) wont fall off as the pn will still hold the nut off.

I'd leave it as is unless you were restoring to blue ribbon specs.

If it is set up correctly the LW's will hold. When you take them apart then you can go back to pins and castle nuts.
