Default Water pump

Just got my new leakless water pump and was wondering if I should use any sealer on the gasket or just put it on dry?

thanks

If both gasket surfaces are smooth and flat nothing is needed on the gasket.

If you want to take the gasket off easy if you ever need to remove the pump, grease the gasket.

If you like sealer use your favorite.

A well glued gasket is fine if you never plan on taking it apart again ,unless you like gasket scraping ---around studs.

I like to use a little grease on both sides, I just "wet" the gasket with my fingers. Comes off clean next time you remove it.

I agree no sealer on new pump gaskets...makes taking it off in the future an unnecessary pain.

Thanks all, I am going to try and get it all back together in the morning so the car will be ready for another weekend of fun.

A thin coat of grease on both sides works great.

The water pump transplant seems to have been a success! There are no apparent signs of rejection, I went with the lightly greased both sides of the gasket suggestion and all seems well. It took all of about an hour and 15 minutes to reassemble everything.

I am learning and very much appreciate the support from everyone.

Thanks again
