Cleaning White Walls
My new Cooker white walls have some grease fingerprint stains. I don't want to use an SOS pad. What do you use one your white walls to clean them up?

Re: Cleaning White Walls
Westley's "Bleche-Wite" Wierd spelling, but the stuff works well.

Re: Cleaning White Walls
I agree with Henry. Wesley's does a terrific job on whitewalls. By the way, I also use Wesley's white wall cleaner on to remove mildew and bug stains from vinyl siding on the house...works great ! Pat

Re: Cleaning White Walls
Coker makes a great whitewall cleaner with no bleach.Remember westleys has bleach and its the bleach that dries out the rubber and causes cracks.Bleach is not good for tires. The coker product works better than the westlys and it saves your tires.

Re: Cleaning White Walls
Westleys does not contain bleach. It's main cleaning ingredient is Sodium Metasilicate, the same as Castrol Super Clean. I used Westleys until I compared labels with Super Clean...Super Clean being cheaper than Westleys, that's what I use now...

Re: Cleaning White Walls
I use to use Westleys until the guys at the EF V8 Nationals convinced me to use about anything but Westleys. It is full of bleach and a good tire company will attest to this. Do not use bleach as it will take the dirt off and some of the rubber little by little too. Not so quick to condemn SOS pads. Thats what I used as a kid and now went back to it for the perfect job. For quick clean ups, Simple Green or other less harsh cleaners will do the job.

Re: Cleaning White Walls
I will look at the Westleys I have in the shop. I may be wrong about it having bleach. If you doubt it has something VERY harsh in it, take a dark rag and use some Westleys. When I saw all the white on the black wash cloth I knew I was doing harm. You can feel the rubber gummy where you use it. Like all topics on here, everyone has opinions. Too many serious car guys have warned me about Westleys so I stopped using it.

Re: Cleaning White Walls
Try the mild cleaners first. Just prior to taking my Model T to a show, I bought some tire cleaner at the parts store that ended up doing a number on the painted parts of the first wheel I tried it on. The instructions should have said to remove the tire from the rim before application, rather than just saying to be careful about getting it on any painted parts.
