Last night I watched "October Sky" which is the story of Homer Hickum from West Virginia who experimented with model rockets in the mid 50s. Lots of 50's cars and his dad drove a 51 Mercury 4 door.

Mv 46 coupe and my 48 F1 were both used in the movie Big Fish about
10 yrs. ago. although you have to look close, the coupe is in the background in 2 scenes, the truck is in one but it is at night. My brother in law's 50 F1 is in one
good scene with the main charator, I have to say that the old cars and trucks
are about the best thing about the movie...at least the money was good..
Merry Christmas to all..Ernie

Not a movie, but did anyone else see the Model 40 sedan pull onto the town square on 60 Minutes last week?

Check out "Drive a crooked road" with Mickey Rooney(1954),he is a mechanic and about an hour into the movie he has to "modify" a car to rob a bank, great shot of him pulling the old flathead out and dropping a new one in even has affter market heads and dual carbs.

Not too many liked the Dan Ackroyd/John Belushi movie 1941 (1979). I did--I guess that says a lot about me. A 1940 Fordor is totally destroyed when it is run over by a tank. Ouch. I wish they would have picked a different make of car to destroy.

1940 Mercury Coupe
1930s Ford V-8 Truck (model unknown)

DAVID J. ...........................
From the Laurel & Hardy movie, "BLOCK HEADS", they drive a '36 roadster through a garage wall.
I have this still of them with a '35 Cabriolet, crashed into a garage. Perhaps, this is from a different movie, or they did not have a '36 Roadster, when they shot the still. ?????

Hey Mike , When I got home from CA with the 33 5w and watched " BLOCK HEADS " I couldn't help but notice the car scattered around the garage looks like a 35 cab to me !???! Look at the windshield header - way too big to be a roadster . I'm not a 35-36 guy but it looks more 35 to me ?!!!? . Maybe your still is the car in the garage . Anyway I didn't find many fords on laurel and hardy or the bowery boys with the exception of " JALOPY " Bowery Boys 1953 that was already discussed earlier . Maybe the " KEYSTONE KOPS " ???? Maybe thats too old ? Some of the stooges stuff is rich in neat cars - the 33 std Phaeton is in at least 3 movies . The WC 33 4d's are really fun in slo-mo with one of the prop cars kinda imploding as it passes behind the sign being my favorite . Otis's 33 cab is good also . David J ps very happy with the 33

Mike , That's the still I have with WC and a trashed 33 4d . Looks like your Laurel & Hardy still is in fact the car in the garage in " BLOCKHEADS " . The WC movie gives a good look at the use of multiple cars in old movies - L & H seem to have done this also in blockheads with a 35 cab .

TONY & DAVID J. .........................
This IS fun !
I would say that they shot the stills after the movie was made and they couldn't find another '36 roadster, but found a '35 cabriolet, on a car lot and figured, "This is good enough, nobody will notice". ....Who alive knows ?

Thanks David and Mike. I am looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

David and Mike,

It had been my guess too that the movie makers used the 1936 Roadster for a driver and when they "drove" the roadster into the garage, the movie makers spread the pieces of the 1935 Cabriolet in the garage and through editing give the movie viewer the impression that the 1936 car was smashed to pieces. The magic of Hollywood. The 1935 Cabriolet is included in the V-8 Ford Count for this movie in post # 114.

1941 Ford Coupe

This 1941 Ford can be seen on the street in The Boy With Green Hair (1948), a movie about a war orphan boy whose hair turns green for world peace and for war orphan rememberance (I am not kidding). I had to dig deep in my collection for this one. This is the film that launched Dean Stockton and probably led to severe emotional problems for co-star Pat O'Brien. That would be Pat O'Brien of Angels with Dirty Faces fame and not to be confused with Pat O'Brien the former sports reporter and Access Hollywood Anchor who likes to party and create sexually provocative voice mails.
