what is it
Was reading an ad for a 1940 Deluxe and it stated the car had - a 6 Volt - 12 Volt battery and solenoid switch.
Tried googling it but found nothing.

Re: what is it
its a dual purpose batt, it has an extra terminal on the 12v batt so it can be used as a 6v when needed

Re: what is it
There is a thread here that ends up at a supply house in the oil fields of TEXAS...
The unit hits the back pocket at roughly 500.00 $ PM for a direct link to page. |

The same thing can be achieved with two six volt optima batteries.

Re: what is it
Friend of mine in High School had a simple solution for an F1 pickup. He put a 12v battery in it, then took an ice pick and poked a hole in the center of it and just stuck a wire in the hole. Worked like a champ, 12v for the starter, ignition and lights and 6v for the instrument panel gauges.

Re: what is it
Not sure I would want to try, but Hot Rodders in the 60s had some interesting solutions to problems. It is strange that kids then were able to solve problems that baffle adults today.

Re: what is it
The kids are still doing it. Most adults have their 3 year old fix their computer.

Re: what is it
Kids aren't afraid to try something new or dangerous, adults know better and can usually afford to do it correctly.

Re: what is it
That expensive relay is actually a very interesting problem solving concept design
& a fairly complicated manufactured product. Serves a real purpose in industry... Just not at a cost most of us would choose to invest in... But have a look at it ! JSerry is a skilled writer of electrical circuits, can explain it's function better then ;<) |
