Default OT Rear End

I'm working on a car my grandfather built using a 490 Chevy rear. (I Think) I need help identifying the year and whether it is a Chevy. Also, I can't find a website for Chevy's like this one, any out there?

One more question, I need to take the rear end apart to restore it but I would like a manual of some sort for it before I start, any ideas of where I can buy a manual or better yet, an on line download????

Humor me on this as I have to get this project out of the way before I can start on a Ford.

Looks like a Dodge rear, maybe 1923. I just saw one the other day that looked like that.

If it is Chevrolet, go on the Vintage Chevrolet Club of America website-www.vcca.org. They are quite helpful on all things Chevy.

I recently rebuilt a couple of early chev engines and found a company called "the filling station" they were very helpful with parts and answering my questions.... l

Thanks for all the help. I'm sure it is Chevy now and will be checking the offered sites out. The only problem with the VCCA site is that they limit you unless you join their club. I'm sure it is a good club but I don't have the extra $30.00 so I can post a picture.

You can post on the some of forums (like the 16 to 28 section) and in the classifieds at VCCA.

There are some areas that are members only like looking at members cars. Which to me is too bad because they need to get new members to the club not put up a fence. My OP.
