1940 door window help needed...PLEASE!
I recently bought a 1940 tudor sedan that did not have the front door glass or vents in the car. I am trying to figure out how to mount the channel that guides the front side of the door glass (big stanless strip that the glass is set into).
I think the previous restorer may have used a 39 door. PLEASE post pics or email me pics of your 40 inner door structure and any other pics you may think useful. Thanks so much! |

thanks a ton. both the 1st and 2nd pic's show where that channel riveted to the inner structure of the door. my doors don't have those holes but i can drill them easy enough.
any chance of a measurement as to exact location of that channel in the door? |

Not sure you can do what you want. Are you restoring the tudor? If not, I would consider using 39 parts and eliminate the vent windows. I don't beleive you can use the 40 garnish mouldings on 39 doors. Maybe someone that does know will chime in here. I will be happy to measure anything you need. If you need 39 garnish mouldings, I may have a pair.

Re: 1940 door window help needed...PLEASE!
i think all i need is the location of the front rivet center line to the the inside front edge of the door. a level accurate measement would be fantastic. i will post some pics after while. yours also looks to have a big channel in the back side of the door too. i don't have that but looks like it could be easily made. thanks for the help!
i'm also missing the vent latch handles if you know of anyone that has a couple pretty good ones. |

I know Jim and Jason fairly well. Lusting after Jim's new 46 delivery since I saw it at Goodguys last weekend. Of course I have been lusting after almost every car he has had [many] for the past 20 years or so. Good luck on the 40.
