Default 34 rear SHOCK FLUID

I need to top off my rear shocks on my 3W Coupe since the rear is starting to bounce too much. Can someone recommend options on which types of fluids are suitable to refill the shocks.

I bought a small bottle of caster oil from Walmart and filled all 4 of mine, I think that's what is supposed to be in there.

Do you know if they have been rebuilt/replaced since you've owned the vehicle or are they original equipment? If they have been rebuilt they may have a more modern type of oil. If they are original they will still have some form of glycerin based oil. The two don't mix. Penrite No. 2 shock oil is recommended for Houdaille type shocks used on Ford product if they have more modern wing shaft seal material incorporated. The old leather can only take glycerin.

Thanks Flat V8 and Kirby. Great tip. I will have to take a sample and analyse the fluid.

Glycerin has a sweet flavor to it but I don't know if you will want to taste of it. If it's been in there a long time, it might be kind of rank.

Another vote for Glycerin.
