I have spent hours, in recent weeks, trying to find WB paint codes. I took the IM1550 code to my local PPG supply and they couldn't do anything with that number. Next, I called the PPG tech line and spoke to a lady in the paint archives. She gave me Nocturne Blue 10989 as the present code for WB. A little investigating finds that as 1953-54 Studebacker color. It looks too dark.
Now Macs sells WB in Lacquer. Really $$$.
Some more numbers I found are PPG 1246.
Dupont G8381. This number leads me to 1987 Isuzu Cavalier Blue. That color looks promising.
You could order it online from TCP Global and take a chance your getting what you want. Maybe order a quart for around $100.
Also, NAPA has a listing for Model A WB. I believe it's not the same as later years (35-38?).

Do you have a code off of the can label? Or can you get it?

I know the Washington Blue paint on my 37 is correct, because it still has it's original paint job from the factory....

I'm not a paint guy but we have been trying to figure out the color of my 37 and came across a friend with original Ditzler paint chips and color codes.

Dal: 17=30-25=90-46=164-49=1060 ( for enamel)

DQE: 109=22-120=152-102=338-DX200=358-111=1048 ( for lacquer)

I copied this from the book so double check before you mix. Looking at the book there are a multitude of different Washington blue colors depending the year and paint company. There are also a lot of other blues of different names that are pretty close to Washington blue. These codes are for 1937 Ford.
Good luck, Don

Mike,

The 1932 Ford paint code for Washington Blue is IM-1246. Go to your PPG dealer and give them this color & code and ask for it in DCC which is a single stage enamel. They should have an on-line cross reference for the DCC formula. If they say that they don't have a cross reference, ask them to call the PPG Color Library. If they won't do this for you, they obvious do not want your business bad enough to look further. If that is the case, find another PPG dealer or ask your painter or a trusted body shop that uses PPG product to do it for you.

P.S. Whether PPG's DDC Washington Blue mix is correct is another question.

Good Luck

This formula is correct according to the PPG Color Code Brochure I have.
It says: Washington Blue No. 1747 1937,1938

These old formulas do not work with modern paints. Every type of paint needs a specific formula. DuPont has a Lab in Lyonville,Pa. that converts the formulas. My grandaughter used to be the one that did the conversions but got transfered to another department. G.M.
