Re: '40 rear axle tapered spindle
Sanding the lining is not a problem I had to do the linings on my '46 Coupe, as there was no place the get the shoes arced. There are several ways that I read in the posts on how to do it. I decided to make a "tool" out of a piece of maple, that would be easy to use, and give an even profile across the face of the lining. The arc of the "tool" closely matches the drums, I used a 5" stick on sanding disc, and it works well.

Re: '40 rear axle tapered spindle
Coop.....you have "NO" idea how much trouble all these guys has gotten me out of ! It is sincerely appreciated.
My long time concern is....will the next generation be as creative and knowledgable as this generation is. I'm 78 years old and I do not know "anyone" in there 40's that has ever done anything like my generation has or the guys online here ! Tim ....I got a box of chalk if you want it. They don't sell just one stick.....you have to buy a dozen of them !!! LOL Thx all.....Mike |
