36 Ford radio head repair
I wonder if someone has taken apart a 36 Philco FT-9 control head. I need to remove the switch for repair, but the dial gears are in the way. Does anyone know how to remove the dial gears. The right hand gear is captive to the center dial gear which doesn't want to come off. Both gears rotate freely.

There is a small wire clip behind the gears that holds them in. maybe someone else on here will have a picture of it.

Re: 36 Ford radio head repair
Thanks Wayne. That was it. A little DeoxIT contact cleaner and the switch was fine.

Is it too late to get further information about this thread? I am also attempting to remove the switch from my Ford Philco FT9 Radio Head. I am encountering the same issue that "wgreeley" ran into. The right gear is retained by the center gear and I can't seem to remove the center gear. There is a very small spring that is connected between the 2 gear shafts and clips to the hole in the center gear. I have disconnected that spring but I still can't figure out how the center gear is removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jim |
