Default Vehicle Shipping

Are these shipping companies on epay trust worthy, has anyone used them and the price quoted was exactly that.

Shipping can be a real bag or worms. Someone may have had a good experience with a particular shipper whereas, someone else had a bad experience with the same one. However, here is a good place to start....http://www.transportreviews.com/ Once you have someone who looks like a possibility go to: http://www.bbb.org/

If you can try to get a shipper that will handle the haul directly without shuffling it between different carriers.

Hope this helps.

Like flathead,, I started with transportreviews found a shipper and other than being a few hours late all worked well.

I drive a truck and I believe the biggest problem is the companies wait until they get as close to a full load going in the same general direction before they will leave (its not worth the money to travel across the country with one or two cars). Someone with a smaller tow vehicle would probably be faster but then you would have to worry about whether or not they were trustworthy to take care of your car. As far as the ones on epay, I would do alot of background checking on them individually and make sure they are insured for damage or loss of your vehicle, you might have to fight but at least with a major carrier you will get reimbursed for damages.

Deal directly with the carrier who will be driving. NO Brokers! They will take the deposit and carrier will charge quote. Be careful who you are dealing with. I have got burned more than once. Good luck Pee

The ONLY company I have ever used that was (is) 100% flawless has been Passport.
A tad more expensive than others perhaps but to me, well worth it.

I had a terrible experience with DAS. I would never recommend them. They were supposed to store my car inside until transport time. When the car got to me it was filthy and obviously sat outside.

My worst was Blue Highways. In retrospect I would not allow them to ship my lawn mower.
I had them transfer three Ford coupes.
One was fresh - nearly a $100k restoration.
Truck shows up a half day late. Elevator didn't work. I had to fix it.
Car on top was a rat of a 71 chevy. No engine. I had to help roll this POS on and off the trailer.
Keep in mind, I'll help anyone. However, when I drop nearly $5k to ship three cars, I expect to get what was contracted.
Flash forward a week... cars came home filthy. One had a small dent in the roof that I had not noticed promptly.
My client that I had restored "the fresh one" for were waiting when the truck arrived. They were going to transfer it to their trailer and bring their "baby" home.
Car comes off the truck with sweaty hand and arm prints all over it. I freak! The driver tells me it's just an "old Ford". I freak again.
Are you kidding me? Just an "old Ford"?
My lesson learned, at least in this case was ya get what ya pay for.

I have shipped cars twice with DAS. Once from the midwest to the east coast and once fom east coast to Vegas and never had a problem as they were both late model convertibles that went on top and you paid a little extra for that.
BUT! If I were to ship a classic I would hire someone that specalizes in that. There are people on this site as well as others that do just that and are well equiped and appreciate what an old cars is.
May cost a little more but isn't your car worth it? I know the piece of mind would be.
