Default 36 cabriolet question

A mate of mine is doing a major restoration on a 36 cabriolet and the rumble seat opening has previously been messed with.

When I visited him the other day he asked me a question about it that I didn't know.

I'm sure someone on Fordbarn will know the correct answer.

On the rumble seat opening on a 36 cabriolet, do they have brackets in the top corners of the opening with rubber grommets for the deck lid to rest on when its closed like earlier model Ford rumble seats?

Thanks for your replies

Richard

Cool Re: 36 cabriolet question

I believe all rumble openings are alike but can"t swear to it.

I don't know about the rubber grommets, but the rumble lid has brackets so the upper cushion can be attached to the lid. It hooks on the brackets. On the bottom of the lid there are "D" nuts and there are loops on the bottom of the spring cushion. Screws and flat washers go into the loops and then the screws go into the "D" nuts. I believe the "D" nuts are a 12-24 thread.

SPIDER ......................
On the 1935 Cabriolet, there is a channel in both the lid and the body, which has a spongey rubber seal, which runs the full distance, on the three sides. There are no rubber bumpers, as on a Model "A".

Thanks Mike,

I probably didn't do the best job explaining what I meant but you obviously understood exactly the area in question.

I am more familiar with Model A's and 32's and that is why I couldn't be sure how the later cabriolets were.

Cheers.

I re-read your post and I guess I focused too much on the word "brackets" rather than the "bumpers". Mike has it right about the rubber cushion/weatherstrip.
