Default U-Joint housing inner cap.

Recently bought my first Model A and going through it as time permits.
I lifted the engine and although in great shape found past errors that I had to correct. No rear seal installed and end float on crank was like 0.20.

There is no inner cap in the U-Joint housing as per picture.
Can someone guide me to source this part. Cannot find it from the retailers.

You are going to have to locate one at a swap meet or from an old Model A guy. Be aware there are two versions and they are designed to cause you grief. The early U-joint housing assemblies, that include the rear bearing retainer on the transmission, the two clam shells and the inner piece, had the six bolt holes arranged non-symmetrical. Henry later changed the design to have the bolt holes arranged symmetrical for no other reason than to cause grief for the next hundred years of Model A enthusiasts. The gasket kits sold have the holes elongate to accommodate both versions. Be sure to acquire the correct one for your car. The year of your car does not matter, what matters is what version U-joint housing assembly is installed.

Thanks Tom, I just found an article with that information. Henry must have been just as bad as Edison. If I get the wrong one could I not elongate the two holes just as in the gasket?
