Default Report on 6.1 Snyder Head

My '30 TS Briggs, Bonnie, is all back together; engine rebuilt and now sporting a B-Cam and a 6.1 Snyder head, new stock valves & springs & new hardened exhaust valve seats. She has been resleaved back to std. I lightened the 65lb flywheel to 55lb for a little better spool-down of rpm without loosing the smoothing effect and inertia. Crank remains unbalanced, with good babbitt on a once-ground crank. I've got about 200 miles on her and she runs better every day.
In regards to the 6.1 H/C Snyder head, I can climb DECENT HILLS in third, accelerating slightly and smoothly. I retorqued the head bolts at 100 miles (glad I did... they had gone down to 35 ft/lbs!!! I returned them to 60 ft/lbs twice now, the last time, they were still at 58-60.
What impressed me the most was the increase in compression. I now have 80lbs on each cylinder. I am pleased as Punch (and Judy?) (The compression before the rebuild was 50, 50, 45, 50). Remember(?) I live a mile above sea level in Albuquerque. I don't know what this compression would be at sea level... perhaps another 5 lbs?
I owe a bunch of this success to advice from THE BARN & "a little help from my friends" in the Poco Quatros Model A Club (ABQ).
Anyway, FWIW, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Yup, a HC head will do that.
