Default 50' Crestliner question

Can anyone advise where the back up light switch would be on a 1950 Crestliner with a flathead engine.??

Generally backup switches are located on the bottom of the steering column near the shift levers.

This is the setup on most all models of standard shift '49-'53 Merc's.
I have no reason to believe that Ford's are any different.

Ford did have a different shifting mechanism than the Mercs but they still had an S-shaped bracket at the bottom of the steering column that held the switch in a position where the 1st/reverse lever would depress the switch button when reverse gear was selected. Instructions were supplied with the 8A-18275 back up lamp kit for 1949 thru 51 vehicles with standard shift.

My 46 Super Deluxe has the switch at the bottom of the steering column so I would think the 49-50 would be about the same place.

Bob...I was lucky enough to locate a N.O.S. 8A-18275 backup light kit at Hershey last year (still in the box!). I am including a copy of page 2 of the instructions that came with the kit. The switch IS attached at the bottom of the steering column as noted above. They are using the existing bolt on the column. Hope this helps! Pat
