Default Model A Inner Wheel Seal

Hi,
Im just wondering if there is a modern seal that will fit to replace the original dust ring cover on the front inner bearing side?

This is on a model T speedster so i am not running front brakes.

None that I am aware of if you are using stock a hubs and spindles. The std retainer ring should work irregardless if brakes

And we are talking a hub where Ford didn't even provide the exterior "cup" cover until after 1931.

No question total seal would be an improvement - it is where the industry went shortly after the Model A era.

Given one of the rings in your hand, you should be able to caliper it up and find a seal type replacement. A "knife edge" type rubber is where you want to go (no springs or energizing.) https://www.mcmaster.com/5154t59 might be a start.

But I think for most, they have more pressing problems in a restoration and choose to leave the engineering to Ford - such as it was.

It's a Model T speedster, they didn't have front brakes.

Not much to go on except it was added it is a T speedster. The poster does not say what wheels and hubs are being used. The only way to use A spindles would be to change out the whole front axle anyway. The T hubs would have seals. As it is, should be in the T section.

Some T speedsters guys do add front brakes.

I used model A hubs and model A wire wheels on my model T speedster. There are no front brakes....that's the issue so there is no backing plate where the seal cup would normally go on a typical model A. I ended up finding a seal that was able to fit behind the inner wheel bearing.
Sorry i should of been more clear with my question. Thanks for the replies.

Front hub seals typically ride on the spindle, not the backing plate.

Measure the hub, measure the spindle without the dust shield , figure a thickness that will work, either post sizes, or go to old auto parts store and look in seal book by sizes
