Is that rubber piece preformed into a 90* angle? Or is the rubber piece just flat and glued to the fabric?

And is the rubber sewn in between the two pieces of wind lace fabric?
The rubber part of this assembly was a preformed piece (one piece).

The wind lace was NOT sewn on the two original peices that I have but was tightly formed around the rubber part.

I know the car will not be out in bad weather but when it gets washed that cardboard could get wet.
What do you think will happen if cardboard gets wet?

In all actualality, the cardboard strips should not get wet at all if you assemble everything correctly and there is no leaks anywhere to allow the cardboard to get wet!

If in fact the cardboard does get wet...Well, you got a BIG problem!

I can agree that the wind lace that goes on the top between the two posts is less likely to get wet. I am more worried about the wind lace that attaches to the A pillar. I may opinion the wind lace on the A pillar is more likely to get wet in a heavy rain or in washing the car. Maybe that wind lace should have something other than cardboard sewn onto it! Maybe a thin plastic or rubber???

Well, if that is the case then Ford did a crappy job on his assembling the Model A didn't he?. I have NEVER had a problem with my Coupe in any way, shape or form, washing it or in a rain storm in that sence since I restored it in 1980...Your car, you do what you want to do!
