Default 1931 Green Murray on e-bay

e-bay item #261142978318 . Ads like this just bug me. Here is a car , "frame off restoration", "Restored by very experienced restorer" in showroom condition, for $24,890. I pity the first time buyer that buys this and takes it to his first show. If what I see in the pictures is any indication of the overall condition, I'd hate to see what is hidden. But at least it is shiney.
If I'm out of line, I apologize in advance.

I like the original style seat and door panel material. I don't remember seeing that in the judging standards.

Here's the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MURRY...orcev4exp=true

The list is just too long, but I like the intake manifold valve, so the farmer can connect his milking machine!

To post a link, just left click on the address bar of the item being looked at, then right click and "COPY". Then back here post your message and right click in the message box and "PASTE".

Does the girl with the boots come with it? If so, I'll take two.

Looks like they forgot to paint the frame rails when they did the"frame off". But nothing says "Model A" like that cool tail pipe end piece. I bet that is new old stock.

I don't think it matters much as the seller has provided plenty of photos. If someone likes it enough to buy it, so be it.

I thought the front bumper was funny since he has the proper, more difficult ones in the rear! Oh, and as usual I'll bet he knows it's a Murray because of the arched windows!

That tail pipe piece is pretty close to the ground...........are you sure it isn't a mine sweeper?

When I was stationed in El Paso I saw a lot of cars that went across the border for a quicky Mexican paint and upholstery. This one fits that description.

typical overpriced listing from another old-car dealer that specializes in cars with shiny paint that are very suspect otherwise.

personally I'd rather have a car restored by someone obscure who's familiar with the Judging Standards than one done by a "famous" guy who built a street rod for Alice Cooper.

at least the internet allows persons attempting due diligence some access to the actual market prices of S/W sedans and a few opinions from know-it-alls like us.
reduces the chances of the unsuspecting newbie getting hosed on a deal like this......

I think he's asking a fair amount, especially for a Model A with the ultra-rare "fender flares". lmao

Wonder how it got a 1928/29 rear end under it ?? Was that part of the "PREMIUM" job??

This newbie bought a "good running car" that had handsome photos and the "my word is my bond" guarantee from a dealer who posted a super car on ebay 18 months ago. He's in Athens, Tenn and I'm outta luck. So much for the learning curve. Buyer Beware.

hey here's a twist.. With all the HATE yesterday, instead of bad mouthing the restoration, the seller, the price and more, why don't we wish him good luck in selling a Model A ford and not letting it go to the rodders. OR send him messages to HELP his post and correct it....Jeesh what are we a bunch of damn wolves!!!!

Mark, do you really think this particular seller would be receptive to some kind and polite input regarding the accuracy of his description and the realities about what constitutes a fair market price for this car?

While on one hand I would be inclined to say leave the guy alone good luck selling it (or maybe hoping someone does not really pay too much for what the car is).

I believe the guy sets himself for harsher criticism as he is claiming a premium restoration and is basically lying about the car. Come on, to call it a premium restoration and you do not even have 4 matching exterior door handles. It does not take much to see it is a used car sales man hoping to sucker a buyer.

If you claim to have a car meeting a high standard and you are pushing as such then you are asking for criticism when you fail to come close and try to profit from another ignorance.

Msmaron,

On one hand you have a solid point of trying to encourage this seller (Dealer) to feel the love of the Model A Highway (and that's not a joke). On the other he represents this car as a frame off restoration by a big time car guy. The chance to pay thousands too much for this A is a total certainty. I'm on the otherside of the issue here having met too many dealers like him.
