Default Our Hearts and Prayers for the Families in Conneticut

We are so saddened to hear about this senseless act of shooting by this maniac...Words cannot express the feeling of hearing that 18 children were executed by this creature... Our Hearts and prayers to all the families and victims of this atrocity!

There was just a shooting near Portland, killing two innocents in a shopping mall. And today, this. I weep for all those victims and their families. There is a deep sickness in many people out there that is beyond comprehension.

Yes, 20 children and 6 adults (I refuse to count the shooter - this was not a life lost, it's a monster gotten rid of) plus, unconfirmed, another adult relative of the shooter.

The flag outside my office is at half-staff and will remain so for the foreseeable future - the least that can be done to honor all the victims, not just those who passed.

All the best to the families, friends, communities - the entire country.

Hug your family an extra time tonight.

Respectfully,

Seeing this on TV just before lunch today I really lost my apetite. I forced myself to eat thinking that my oldest Grandson is only a year younger than those kids. Hard to beleive anyone would take out there agressions on someone so young. I was unable to follow the updates the rest of the day as I was in signing papers and finalizing things with the new job I was offered. Hard to think straight after seeing what was shown and talked about. I will be praying for the families of those kids for a long time. Rod

I also am praying for the victims and their families and hoping this doesn't "scar" the rest of the kids for life.

The only good thing is that the shooter is dead and the country won't have to put up with a charade trial where he gets to plead not guilty and a sham trial lasts years. JMO

My great grandson and great grand daughter just got back to school a few days ago after losing their father, and today their teacher needed to tell her class about some sick sob who shot up kids in a school where they should feel perfectly safe. What the hell is happening to our society? My family will need to do some real intense work to help them try to understand why someone could do such a heinous act, and I'm not sure we can answer their questions. My prayers go out to the families of Newtown to try to put all their lives back together again.

Thank god we have very restricted gun laws in Australian and its not the norm to have a gun. The right to carry! I would rather the right to be safe!

My thought are with the family's, very sad.

Respectfully, We have an ill society with many factors making worldwide comparisons pretty useless. We also have a lot more diversity than other countries have, which also raises statistic markers in any country no matter what ethnicities are mixing. I'm not saying that had anything to do with yesterday but if you're trying to throw out blanket statistics or statements about what is safe and what is not it is really not so clear. You might not be as safe as you think, and in Austrialia you still do have violent crime issues, but maybe not as prevalent social issues like proliferation of violent media, video games, and advertising or the same social values and norms. Austrialia's gun control was in reaction to your own massacre and you're nieve to think that such an atrocity can't happen again in your country because of a law. Nobody is completely safe. Love, understanding and compassion are the best prevention. Ok now I'm thinking about Ryan and what a nice forum and community he has created and backing off the politics. Yesterday was a sick and awful tragedy worthy of prayers and not a political platform.

My heart goes out to everyone affected. The only good that can possibly come out of this tragedy is if it inspires the rest of us to continue to be decent and honorable to all and more loving than ever to those we feel closest to.

Evil can strike at any moment in any place

Murdering 20 children while they are at the safest place - school

It defies logic

It challenges our compassion

My youngest daughter is seven

We are spending the day together

God Bless all Children

Hard to find words to say about this terrible event. Like Ray mentioned above we here in the Portland OR area are trying to get over our event of a few days ago. How can a person understand these senseless acts. The hope and prayers we have is that somehow we can restore this country to a moral family orientation of what is right and wrong.

"Columbine", the book by Dave Cullen put it all into focus:

The real problem here is a generation of young men with mental illness. They fall into 3 categories. #1 The smallest, is people who are genuinely out of control. No sense of reason, right or wrong. #2 is a larger group who are completely in control, but are pathologically evil. Ted Bundy types, who what to hurt for pleasure and gratification, and have no remorse about it. But #3, the largest group, perhaps 5-6% of adolescents, is the group that shooter, Adam Lanza falls into. These are people who are clinically depressed. And unlike most, who tend to internalize these feelings, a portion of them act out, and in a violent manner. They wish to punish, and harm, individuals or groups of people who they feel have caused their pain. What did Lanza feel? Neglected by this school teacher mother, who he killed? Did he feel he needed to exact revenge on the school and the children who took Mommy's affection from him? We may never know for sure, but one thing is certain, there were warnings. There alway is.

Every single one of these monsters, from the Columbine teenagers, to the Batman shooter, to the Virginia Tech killer, to the Gabby Giffords shooter ALL, I repeat ALL, told people what they were going to do. And no one listened and acted. And that my friends is the real problem. You and me. There will always be a percentage of nut jobs out there…in fact, because we have an ever increasing population there will be even more. And all of these people show signs. Goth dress. Isolation. Obsession with violent video games. Saying strange things. Emails, texts, Facebook posts. Stand up. Take action. Save lives. You alone can be the difference. Yes, guns kill people. And there should be stronger controls on who can get guns. But just like the NRA says, it is ultimately people who kill people. And whether it is a family member, a neighbor, or that kid in a classroom….drop a dime. rat someone out. Err on the side of caution. Save the life of a child. Peace to you all.

In my opinion, all of these similar acts of violence happening one right after another are far worse than many adult American Citizens even desire to ever imagine.

We just returned from my son's house with my children & grandchildren opening wrapped Christmas presents.

Already deeply saddened from hearing & reading about this terrible school tragedy, a couple of sudden shocking thoughts entered in a flash:

a. How many of these school kids already had Christmas presents wrapped & waiting under the trees of parents & grandparents?

b. How many tears would be shed by these parents & grandparents while having to unwrap these Christmas presents while thinking of the little smiles their little loved would have had in opening these wrapped gifts?

I cannot even begin to imagine how deep the hurt that these wonderful loving American families will endure this Christmas & the future Christmas's to come.

Rumor is that the Westboro Baptist Church is going to picket the Funerals, as they do Military Funerals. Something about God punishing us for not believing the way these idiots in Kansas think we should believe.

I hope this is untrue-enough violence and idiotcy.

It is very true and the reason is : "this crime was gods punishment for fags". I cannot wrap my head around something like this. Incomprehensible on what will happen to them if they do. I fear the violence that will occur if this does happen. I am sorry to say, it will be rightfully deserved.

Guys, I can tell you first hand that the feeling of this type of loss will never go away to those that actually have experienced it, especially at this time of year.

You will never forget those that are lost.

You should not forget those that are lost.

Christmas never again appears the same.

This apparently is true, these worms have posted a video with their new slogan, "God sent the Shooter". I'd recommend watching it whilst sitting down, and on an empty stomach.

No word from the video if they will appear in Connecticut, but their twisted view of us and our world is now on video.

Lightbulb Reign in your anger - extend your compassion

Reign in your anger - extend your compassion

Any violence is unacceptable - it leads to further violence - never ending

Today - as I did last Wednesday - I am having lunch with my
7 year old daughter at school

If you have never had lunch with your child at school,
please consider attending this week if possible

Personally, I find the recent string of attacks against children unacceptable and it has to stop

That is where a dialogue should begin - at a place we can all agree on

It is time to protect our children at the place where society expects
them to be most days - at school

The environment has become one of real and genuine uncertainty
for the safety of our children at school

We cannot sit beside them at school

I suggest a police car and police officer be present at
K thru 8 grade schools during school hours

I realize the financial hardship of this on local - state - federal
budgets and funds

But I also realize that gun control laws are just about impossible
to change - the money and politics too powerful to overcome

And we do not have the time

So, in our Society of Abundant Freedoms, we have to accept
that a miniscule minority of our fellow man will abuse those freedoms
and wreak havoc and destruction and carnage

We have to protect our children - right now

That is our greatest responsibility to them

They are our greatest contribution to this World

They are our finest achievement

They are our future to be protected in our present

Perhaps it's not entirely the fault of guns.

You probably won't see or hear this anywhere else in the media, but the worst killing of children in the US did not happen with a gun. In 1927 in the very small town of Bath, Michigan. Forty Five (45) people were killed by dynamite. A deliberate act by a man who was upset about his school taxes on his farm. I believe all but two were children.

Google Bath Township massacre for details.

If I remember correctly 21 Chinese students were killed in a school in China last week Thursday(?) by a man with a knife.

Just some things to ponder.

Some might think that God sent the shooter, but I just got an anonomous email that advises that the whole thing was a "government psyop" designed to persuade the people to allow govt to take away guns.
Sad how the loonies always try to take advantage of these types of tragedies.

“When the federal government started making schools gun-free zones, that’s when all of these shootings started,”..............That’s like saying ‘sic ‘em’ to a dog.”

I guess they are saying kids in school and guns don't mix and I would have to agree with that . Furthermore Its not like saying " sic em to a dog" its like saying sic em to a RABID dog. You could say sic em all you like to my two dogs and they would never attack an innocent person (child or otherwise). Perhaps we should be concentrating on fixing the rabid dog before it harms other people. However can we please go back to Model A's -at least my heart doesn't break every time I think of them ! Karl
