I recently mounted new Blockley tires. I like them, but they are a bit wider than stock. I discovered that in a tight parking lot maneuver the tire can just rub on the brake rod. I'd like to readjust the steering stops by a degree or 2, but I can't find them. Are they hidden inside the steering box? If so, I'll probably just live with it.

I think if you put a shorter pitman arm on it you have done the same thing.

The stops are with the kingpins.

The stops are the kingpin lock nuts.Old replacement kingpins sometimes just used a plain nut,not the tall closed nut that acts as a stop.Even with a short pitman arm the spindles will hit the stops before the steering box runs out of travel.

Put a washer under the nut. Doesn't take much.

I found it. I think I can make a larger hex nut rather than a longer one. A longer one looks like it will run off the casting edge. Thanks folks!
With the stop on the hub, it looks like my shorter Pitman arm will have no effect at all.

Won't that negate the slots in the locking pins/stops from meeting the King Pins?

The nut does not lock the king pins, the pin does. All the nut does is pull the pin thru the axle locking the king pins and acts a stop for the spindle.

Just machine a couple metal caps to slip over the stop nuts. It would be like an ammo shell.

This could be an option for you, a pair of the long nuts used on AA’s with the large truck tires

Also a washer under the long nut will raise it up and still pull the pin to lock the king. There were two lengths for the nut as well. Check the standards.

I went to the site and looked, old greasy nuts? wouldn’t it be easy to manufacture some new? Maybe just not interested buyers!

Could be old stock with cosmoline on them. As it is, I would call Snyders or find out first if the thread size is the same as cars.

I actually just ordered a pair for my AA, here’s some pics

So in the first pic , the AA nuts is the furthest right, with the other two from nos sets I have (period aftermarket, Toledo set) and yes, they’re the same thread

The thread size is the same. I found out today I know Snyders supplier and yes they are NOS and covered in cosmoline.
