This old girl spent 30 years sitting still in a drive shed.. brought it home last December... ten months later after a mechanical restoration, new interior and cut and polish with simmoniz three stage compound system...I couldn’t bring myself to paint it.... car was last painted in the lates fifties...

Try Penetrol by Flood. It is made to add to oil or solvent based paint to help it flow out better, but it is a great old paint seal and brightener. Rub it on, rub it in, and wipe off the excess, let it dry. Putting it on is A LOT easier than wax.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I think I will first try the Johnsons Wax, as that appears to be the most recommended. Will do on a small section, first.

A good clean and wax will last a long while. The old rodders used to put 30w on their car before a show, to "shine" them up.

like your plan. No need for a clear coat. Gibbs or Ospho in spots will neutralize future rust. A clear coat wont.

What works in a dry area like Arizona would not necessarily work in a high rainfall area, with a high moisture content in the air. Any recommendation would need to take that into account.

Good Afternoon '28'. I used to live in Costa Mesa. Worked for the Daily Pilot and lived just off Santa Ana Avenue behind the Santa Ana Country Club...I still remember the squiggly lines in the streets to let you know that you were coming up to the stop sign in the fog. Also did time at the Shell Station at Santa Ana Avenue and Palisades Road. Ernie in Arizona
