radiator shell laceing
How does the laceing go on the shell in the mount bolt areas or maybe I should ask how the bolts go in the shell? Does the rivet heads go on the inside of the shell with the tails bent over the laceing?

Re: radiator shell laceing
The radiator shell rivet heads are suppose to be on the outside, unlike the cowl rivets with the heads on the inside. The radiator lacing goes over where the mounting screws go (binding head screws). Just leave the lacing a tad loose to be able to get the screws into the hole and the screwdriver to hold the screw while tightening the nut. There is a nice tool at most parts suppliers for about $30 that installs the rivets correctly.

Re: radiator shell laceing
The lacing goes on the outside of the shell and over the hold down screw heads..it insulates the hood from the shell....To access the hold down screws I pry the lacing over a little.. The rivet heads go on the outside...
I think this is what you asked Snyders was the only one selling the tool the last time I looked.. It's under model T lacing tool Last edited by Mitch//pa; 04-20-2016 at 06:13 PM. |

Re: radiator shell laceing
I use a scratch awl to poke the rivet holes. Makes the job quick and easy.

Re: radiator shell laceing
You don't need to anything special. The screw will go in the radiator shell hole just fine by just pushing the lacing to one side a little like Ford did originally.

Re: radiator shell laceing
I agree 100%. I just finished installing both sets of lacing, and I was worried about the radiator shell screws. All you have to do is push it to the side and all is well. Good luck.
