It goes without saying that both cars have properly operating charging systems with proper and clean electrical connections from bumper to bumper.

I always keep them on a very good quality tenders, not the cheap kind.

Needless to say, I am a happy customer and certainly hope that production of the 6V Optima continues.

"Good quality tenders"... give me an example, I've found a dozen, $15 to ten times that and none specify 6v AGM. Do you feel that the AGM (Optima) will tolerate a "Normal" charger? Thanks for any advice, I need it!

NAPA specs show 12Volt only for that charger.

I have used regular cheap 6/12 battery tenders on both of my optimas. The first lasted 14 years, the second is going on 8 years and still going strong. THere are only two kinds of 6 volt electricity : AC and DC. An Optima sure isn't AC.

oops, that late night surfing and my mistake. I corrected the part number.
The 2 amp # 90-302 , 3 amp # 90-506 , and 3 amp # 90-515 are all 6/12 volt maintainer capable that will work on an AGM battery.
Solar makes a 4 amp 6/12 volt maintainer to NAPA SOR # PL2140 also

I use a 35$ schumacher charger. 6v optimas 7 and 12 yrs now. I just throw it on ever once in a while (3-4 times a yr) to go full charge. But my charging system seems to keep it rolling.

Think battery tender has a 6v tender that is well thought of.

Costco has Battery Tender brand at a good price. Every so often they have an in store rebate making them even cheaper. I only paid $27 last time. Super deal!
