Murray drivers door latch diagram and how to rebuild
I have a 1930 Ford Model A Fordor, and the drivers door latch will not release from the outside.
New to this, so am looking for help in rebuilding this latch, diagram, etc. Thank you in advance for any assistance with this. |

Re: Murray drivers door latch diagram and how to rebuild
make sure it is NOT locked, there is a little lever to lock the left door, and when in the locked position the outside handle will not open the door but the inside handle will work fine. the right front door has the key lock in the outside of the door, so it will not have the lever on the inside.

Thanks for your reply, but the door is not locked. When you turn the outside handle, it turns part way then you can feel it slip, and it won’t open.
Thanks for your attempt anyway. Andy |

Sounds like you have to remove the latch from the door, disassemble it & see what's worn. Probably riveted together, most likely the actuating lever turned by the door handle is worn where it pushes against the latch slide.

I have not had one of these latches apart before, that is why I was asking if anyone had a repair diagram. I will have to take it out of the door and open it up. It does feel like it is worn somewhere inside the latch. Thank you for your help. Andy |
